Georgetown plays at St. Mary's College this weekend.

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team hit the road this morning, heading west to play a three-game, non-league series at St. Mary's College in northern California.
The Hoyas and the Gaels begin their series on Friday, April 5, with first pitch slated for 6 p.m. (ET). The series continues on Saturday, April 6 (6 p.m. ET) and concludes on Sunday, April 7 (4 p.m. ET).
Georgetown enters the weekend with a 17-9 overall record, including a 3-3 mark in BIG EAST Conference play after taking two of three games against South Florida last weekend at home. The Blue & Gray have won 11 of their past 14 games, including an eight-game win streak.
Senior second baseman Danny Poplawski (Bellevue, Wash./Overlake) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after his performance during the series against USF. He batted .417 for the weekend (5-for-12) with three RBI and two runs scored as the Hoyas had solid contributions from its lineup and pitching rotation.
Overall this season, Poplawski is batting .289 (28-for-97), with a team-leading nine doubles and 15 RBI, which ranks third on the team. He is third on the team with 15 runs scored. In six BIG EAST games, Poplawski is batting .304 with one double and three RBI.
Senior third baseman Trevor Matern (Santa Clarita, Calif./Hart) leads the team in batting with a .371 average (26-for-70), including three doubles and 10 RBI. Matern had an 11-game hit streak ended last week and is second on the team with nine multi-hit games.
Senior center fielder Justin Leeson (Exton, Pa./West Chester) is batting .318 (24-for-107( with six doubles, one triple and 17 RBI, which ranks second on the team. He has 10 multi-hit games and leads the team with nine stolen bases.
Youth has been a key for the Hoyas in the lineup this season, with freshman shortstop Curtiss Pomeroy (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John's) batting .306 with three doubles and seven RBI in 18 starts, catcher/designated hitter Nick Collins (Carthage, N.C./Union Pines) batting .297 with three doubles, two triples and 11 RBI and catcher Eric Webber (Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's) batting .280.
The rotation for the weekend will start with redshirt sophomore Jack VanderLinden (Dallas, Texas/Episcopal), who is 2-0 with a 2.72 earned run average in seven starts this season. He went seven strong innings while allowing only three hits with four walks and five strikeouts last weekend against USF and leads the team in innings pitched (39.2).
The Saturday starter will be senior lefty Thomas Polus (Crown Point, Ind./Andrean), who is 2-2 with a 4.50 earned run average and the series closes with sophomore Matt Hollenbeck (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) on the hill. Hollenbeck is 1-3 with a 3.93 ERA this season.
