WASHINGTON - Georgetown University baseball player Jack Vander Linden (Dallas, Texas/Episcopal) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after his performance during this past weekend's series against St. John's.
Vander Linden and the Hoyas took one of three games from the Red Storm and improved their record to 20-13 overall and 4-5 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown currently sits in 7th place in conference standings.
A redshirt sophomore pitcher, Vander Linden pitched eight shutout innings in a 3-0 win against St. John's on Friday, striking out four, while only allowing one walk.
On the season, Vander Linden touts a 3-1 record with a 2.80 ERA, throwing a team-leading 54.2 innings and 42 strikeouts.
On Friday, Vander Linden was relieved by Charles Steinman (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Chaminade) who picked up his seventh save of the season.
Georgetown lost the sandwich game of the series 4-3, and Sunday's series finale.
The Hoyas hit the road this week, going to Fairfax, Va. on Tuesday, April 16 to take on George Mason at 3 p.m. Georgetown returns to conference play on Friday, April 19 to take on Seton Hall at 6 p.m. in South Orange, N.J.
