Connecticut-Georgetown Baseball Game Friday to Start at 6 p.m.
April 16, 2010
WASHINGTON - The first game of a three-game series between Connecticut and Georgetown on Friday, April 16 will start at 6 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but due to inclement weather expected in the Washington Metropolitan area, first pitch has been moved up one hour in order to get the game in before storms arrive.
The Hoyas, 18-15 overall, will host the Huskies in a big three-game series at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda, Md. this weekend. The second game of the series will be played on Saturday, April 17 (7 p.m.) and the teams will close out the three-game set on Sunday, April 18 (1 p.m.).
Live statistics for the series will be available on the Georgetown Athletics website - www.guhoyas.com. A live audio broadcast of the final two games of the series will also be available on www.guhoyas.com, with Ryan Sakamoto calling all of the action.
Georgetown has won its last two games and improved to 18-15 overall with a 9-5 victory at George Washington on Wednesday. The team's 18 wins are more than the team won all of last season and the team still has 23 games left on the 2010 schedule.
Georgetown is 2-7 overall in league play after getting swept by BIG EAST-leading South Florida last weekend on the road. The return home - where the Hoyas took two of three games from Notre Dame two weeks ago - will be welcome, but the Hoyas face a tough test in the Huskies, who are 24-7 overall and 7-2 in league play.
The pitching rotation for the weekend will include senior Tim Adleman (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield), junior Tommy Isaacs (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Bolles) and sophomore Will Harris (Winter Park, Fla./Trinity Prep). Adleman, who will start in Friday's opener, carries a 4-3 overall record with a 5.56 earned run average. Adleman has thrown 43.2 innings this year and leads the team with 31 strikeouts. He is 0-3 in three league starts.
