WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team will close out its regular season home schedule this weekend with a three-game, BIG EAST series against Butler. The Hoyas will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, honoring its senior class in an on-field pregame ceremony.
Georgetown (26-22, 3-9 BIG EAST) is coming off of an 8-5 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday, behind four RBI from Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla./San Ramon Valley [Calif.]), including his fourth home run of the season. Jimmy Swad (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) picked up the win, striking out four in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief and Noah Abdalla (Raleigh, N.C./Northern Regional Highlands [N.J.]) registered his fifth save of the year. The win was the 26th of the season for the Hoyas, marking the most in a season under Head Coach Pete Wilk and the most by a Georgetown team since 1985 (27).
For the season, Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) leads Georgetown with a .357 batting average and has team highs with 13 doubles and five triples. He is tied with Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) for the squad lead with 41 RBI and is tied with Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) and Weisenberg for second with four home runs. Zach Racusin (Morristown, N.J./Salisbury School/Marist) leads the Hoyas with 70 base hits, while DeRenzi is right behind him with 69 and has team highs of five home runs and 12 stolen bases.
Butler enters the weekend with a 28-17 overall record, and a 4-8 mark in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs have won five of their past six games, including winning a series against Villanova last weekend and throwing a combined no-hitter at Purdue on Wednesday. The offense is batting .256 as a team, while the pitching staff is second in the conference with a 3.46 ERA.

Kuzbel has reached base safely in 43-consecutive games, which is tied for the second-longest active streak in the country.
In his past 16 games, Weisenberg is batting .333 (18-for-54) with four home runs, two triples, a double, 12 runs scored and 19 RBI.
Since joining the everyday lineup on April 1, Eric Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan/TCU/San Jacinto) is batting .323 (30-for-93) with two home runs, 11 doubles, 17 runs scored and 21 RBI. He has 12 multi-hit games in that 22-game span.
Senior right-handed pitcher Simon Mathews (West Haven, Conn./Hopkins School/Temple) enters Friday night with 74 strikeouts, needing just five more to break the single-season record.
