WASHINGTON - Georgetown University redshirt junior shortstop Mike Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Douglas MacArthur) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

Garza helped lead the Hoyas to a 15-4 win over Cincinnati on Saturday in the team's regular season finale. Georgetown finished the 2012 season with a 24-29 record overall, including 10-17 mark in the BIG EAST. The Blue & Gray tied for eighth place in the BIG EAST, missing out on its first appearance in the league tournament in 26 years by just percentage points. The 10 wins in league play were the most for the team since 2006.

A preseason All-BIG EAST selection, Garza led the offense this weekend, batting .643 (9-for-14), with three multi-hit games. He hit three doubles, one home run scored six runs and drove in seven.

In an 11-6 loss on Friday, Garza went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, one run and two RBI and he followed that up on Saturday by going 2-for-4 with a double, single, two runs and one RBI. In the season-ending 15-4 win on Saturday, Garza went 4-for-6 with a double, home run, two singles, three runs and four RBI.

Garza finished the season batting .393, which led the Hoyas and ranked second in the BIG EAST. He led the team in hits (86), at-bats (219), doubles (21), home runs (8), runs batted in (44) and total bases (135). In addition, he was second in the BIG EAST in slugging percentage (.616) and ninth in the league in on-base percentage (.433).

Garza's four hits on Saturday gave him 86 for the season, tying the single season school record for hits set by Kurt Kaull in 1983. His 135 total bases were four shy of the school record of 139, set by Kaull in 1983 as well.
