Steve Anderson Tabbed New England Collegiate League Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University rising senior baseball player Steve Anderson (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) was named the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Player of the Week on Monday.
Anderson, a first baseman, is in his second summer playing in the NECBL, one of the top summer college baseball leagues in the country. Anderson helped guide the Newport (R.I.) Gulls to the NECBL Championship last year as the team was one of the top-ranked summer teams in the country.
In games last week, Anderson hit .389 with a double, two home runs and 10 RBI. He had a .542 on-base percentage thanks to his six walks. He hit a home run and drove in four runs in Newport's win over Laconia and then drove in five runs in the team's win over Mystic the next night.
Georgetown finished the 2013 season with a 25-28 record and Anderson hit .274 with five doubles, three home runs and 25 RBI. He ranked third on the team in hits and runs batted in and was fourth in total bases.
