Ewing Jr. is the son of former Hoya All-American and National Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing.
"Even as a player, Patrick `saw' the game through the eyes of a coach," Head Coach John Thompson III said. "I'm very glad to have Patrick come back home and to be part of the staff."
Following his graduation from Georgetown in 2008, Ewing Jr. was a second round pick of the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Draft and he spent time with the Houston Rockets, the New York Knicks and New Orleans Hornets. He also spent time playing overseas, with stops in Germany, Spain, Greece and Qatar.
Ewing, Jr. was the recipient of the BIG EAST Conference's inaugural Sixth Man of the Year Award as a senior in 2008. He appeared in all 34 games during the 2007-08 season, averaging 6.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest. Ewing, Jr. started the first 10 games of the season, but moved into the Sixth Man role in January. In 24 games coming off the bench, Ewing, Jr. averaged 5.7 points and 4.4 rebounds while handing out 25 assists and blocking 12 shot
A major contributor to Georgetown's success in 2006-07 when the team won the BIG EAST Tournament and advanced to the Final Four, Ewing, Jr. provided a spark whenever the Hoyas needed it. During BIG EAST play, he had 11 games with at least five points, 14 games with at least three rebounds, six games with at least two assists, three games with at least two blocked shots and four games with at least two steals.
Ewing and his wife, Katie, live in Washington, D.C. and have a son, Patrick III.
