Georgetown head coach John Thompson III
On the win: "Wins in this league are difficult to come by. Road wins in this league are very difficult to come by. To that extent, it was a good day. I don't like our execution at the end...I don't want to take anything away from their effort, their stick-to-itiveness, but we made that a lot harder than it had to be...To get a win, to come in and have two road wins, Sunday and Tuesday, and to go home with two victories is good. To come in here and win is good but we have to be better."
On what went wrong in the game: "The turnovers, the missed foul shots, giving them two easy layups at the end of the game. That's just off the top of my head. Then you look at all that and say you still come away with a win, but we're better than we showed at the end."
On Markel Starks: "He has--and this is not the trainer's definition or the doctor's but--something going on with his stomach. I found out after we got here. We were getting on the bus and he said he wasn't feeling well he's been throwing up and having stomach issues and then once he got here, he just said he felt too weak, told me he couldn't play."
On Jason Clark: "It was a difficult game for him in that he had to deal with their press and their pressure most of the time, but then also he was clearly in a groove and the ball was going in. I thought obviously Jason played very, very well."
On Cleveland Melvin: "I didn't feel like he was under wraps. He's good. He puts pressure on you because he's so aggressive, so aggressive, and he keeps coming at you. One thing that he has consistently done for two years now--and tonight was no exception--is he gets whoever is guarding him in foul trouble. He's extremely good at getting fouled and getting to the line...He's a tough player but you have to guard him by committee and by committee I mean everyone has to, even though maybe one person might be the point person assigned to guard him, everyone has to know where he is. Everyone has to be ready to crowd. If he gets space, he's dangerous."
On his 31-point effort:
"I think it was coming through our offense. I'd been on a stretch where I haven't been, you know, making a lot of three pointers but today they were falling."
