On playing against Georgetown...
They're frenzied defensively. They were really getting all over the place, they really get after the ball when you catch it and they took it out of our hands. That's BIG EAST basketball. They are intimidating with their defense, getting in passing lanes and they really swarmed on the offensive glass. Anything they missed they went after hard. We tried to play a little zone to get them away from the cutting they do so well.

On UNC-Greensboro's shooting woes...
The shots we got, we missed early and we missed free throws. We struggled out of the gate for some reason at the free throw line. I thought if we knocked down a couple more free throws it might have helped us give a little more fight.

On Georgetown's defense...
We tried to work against it, but we can't duplicate their length. So we work a little with it in practice, but we can't work against it like they're going to give it to you. Getting toward the end, after a while we started attacking a little bit better, but they got us in the frenzy they wanted us in that 1-2-2.

On Georgetown's freshmen...
I think, obviously the trip they took over the summer was very rewarding and the guys that were young are not really young anymore because they have that experience. They were all over the place. They knocked down shots, each of the guys.

On any teaching tools to take from the game...
Well, we don't have much time since we play on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. But we had a couple of plays at end where we executed, so we'll try to take the positives that we did do well and realize that when we get back to our level that maybe we can be a bit more successful.

John Thompson III Quotes

On Georgetown's Effort...
"I think our guys played hard. I do think there was a focus for 40 minutes regardless of who was in and wasn't in. I think they had a focus for 40 minutes which is needed." On if the Additional Practices and Games Due to the China Trip has Impacted Games... "I don't know whether you can measure that. Were not the only team to take a foreign trip, a lot of teams did. It definitely helped us, I think. How much? Who knows and we'll see..."

On Georgetown's Full Court Press...
"We had to work on it. It was successful at times and when they made adjustments, you know, we had to go back and make our counter adjustments quicker. I thought in terms of not letting them get into a rhythm as much as turning them over, I thought it was effective at times when we didn't get a turn over. Looking at tapes of (UNC Greensboro), they do what they do. They get the shots they want, where they want and I think our press was effective in keeping them off kilter a little bit."

On Georgetown's Freshmen...
"They're going to play extended minutes and so that's going to be regardless of who the opponent is. I said this half time today... we are going to have a lot of different combinations, not just like we are going to have a set core necessarily. ...A lot of that's because of our versatility across the board so different people, play different positions with different groups. We have to get precise, regardless of who's in the game. We have to get that precision at both ends of the court regardless of who coach has in and what we have to get quickly."
