WASHINGTON - Georgetown freshman guard Jahvon Blair (Brampton, Ont./Athlete Institute Prep) was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league. This is Blair’s first weekly award of his career.
The Hoyas went 1-1 last week after defeating DePaul on the road, 90-81, on Tuesday, followed up by a loss to No. RV/24 Creighton at home, 90-66, on Saturday. In the pair of games, Blair averaged 11.5 ppg and 2.5 rpg and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the line.
He managed 15 points against DePaul as he sunk three 3-pointers and hit all four of his free throws in the road win.
For the season, Blair is averaging 8.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg and shooting 35.3 percent from the floor. The freshman has put up six double-figure outings, including three in his last five games.
Blair is part of a freshman class that is contributing 25.1 percent of GU’s points.
