Feb. 1, 2013
WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team plays the final game of a three-game homestand on Saturday, Feb. 2, hosting long-time BIG EAST Conference rival St. John's at Verizon Center. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m.
The game will be shown live on CBS, with Ian Eagle and Clark Kellog calling all of the action. The Georgetown game will be shown live to nearly half of the United States, while the remainder can see the game via DirecTV channels 728/728-1 (HD). It will also be streamed on CBSSports.com and CBS Mobile. Locally, fans can tune for the radio call of Rich Chvotkin on Sports Talk AM 570.
Saturday's game with St. John's is the annual "Gray Out" game, with all fans encouraged to wear gray to support the Hoyas. Fans taking Metrorail service should pay attention to rail schedules as there will be single-track work throughout the weekend.
Georgetown enters the game on Saturday with a 15-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the BIG EAST. The Hoyas have won their last three games and five of the last six overall, including a 74-52 decision over Seton Hall on Wednesday night.
St. John's, meanwhile, enters the game with a 14-7 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the BIG EAST. Since being beaten by the Hoyas, 67-51, at Madison Square Garden last month, SJU has won its last five games.
The meeting with the Red Storm will be the 99th all-time between the teams. Georgetown has won the last four meetings between the teams and 10 of the last 13 overall, but SJU holds a 53-45 lead in the head-to-head series.
Sophomore forward Otto Porter Jr. (Morley, Mo./ Scott County Central), who was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week on Monday, leads the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game, which ranks 11th in the BIG EAST. Porter, who has five double-doubles this season, ranks fifth in the league in rebounding (7.7 rpg) and is also among the league leaders in steals (eighth, 1.84 spg), field goal percentage (51.3%) and defensive rebounds (6.24 rpg).

Junior guard Markel Starks (Accokeek, Md./Georgetown Prep) is third on the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game and is second on the team with 2.68 assists per game. Starks, who scored 17 points and tied a career-high with four three-point field goals in the Seton Hall win, leads the team with 28 three-point field goals and ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in three-point percentage, connecting on 43.1 percent of his shots (28-of-65).
Junior forward Nate Lubick (Southborough, Mass./St. Marks) is fourth on the team in scoring with 7.4 points, third on the team with 5.1 rebounds and leads the team with 2.74 assists per game. In the last six games, he is scoring 8.5 points per game, while grabbing 5.1 rebounds and handing out 2.5 assists and shooting 63.3 percent from the floor (57-of-90).

During the team's first 13 games, the reserves were averaging 13.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Freshman guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./Oak Hill) is averaging 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in that span.

GU's opponents are averaging 55.3 points per game, which ranks second in the BIG EAST and No. 10 nationally. The Hoyas have limited opponents to 37.9 percent shooting from the field, which is third in the conference. GU has limited its last six opponents to below 40 percent shooting from the field.
