Georgetown Finishes Road Trip on Tuesday at Providence

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team will complete its three-game road trip on Tuesday when it faces the Providence College Friars in a BIG EAST matchup in Providence, Rhode Island. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. After an overtime loss against No. 6 Xavier on Saturday, 96-91, the Hoyas hold an overall record of 13-9, with a 3-8 mark in conference action.

Georgetown Loses to Providence on Monday Night
Georgetown dropped the final game of a four-game homestand at Verizon Center on Monday night, losing a BIG EAST Conference game to Providence, 74-56.

Tuesday's contest will be shown live on FS1 with Dave Sims calling the play-by-play and Donny Marshall providing color analysis. The game can be heard locally on WNEW 99.1 FM with Rich Chvotkin handling the call.

On Saturday against Xavier, freshman guard Jamorko Pickett (Washington, D.C./Massanutten Military Academy) poured in a career-high 21 points, while also chipping in nine boards. Junior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) led GU with 23 points and nine rebounds, while junior forward Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) tallied his fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Freshman guard Jahvon Blair (Brampton, Ont./Athlete Institute Prep) added 19 points of his own, on five 3-pointers and a perfect 4-for-4 performance from the charity stripe. Graduate student guard Trey Dickerson (Queens, N.Y./God's Academy [Texas]/South Dakota) paced the offense with six assists.

For the season, Govan leads the Hoyas with 16.5 ppg and 10.2 rpg and is ranked second in the BIG EAST in rebounds with 10.2 rpg. Derrickson is second on the team in both categories as he registers 15.8 ppg and 7.7 rpg. In league play, both Govan and Derrickson are among the top five in rpg. The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST in offensive rebounds, averaging 39.7 rpg.

Providence holds a 15-8 overall record with a 6-4 conference mark. On Saturday, the Friars defeated Marquette in BIG EAST action, 77-75. Sophomore Alpha Diallo led the team with 16 points, while senior Kyron Cartwright finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Rodney Bullock leads the Friars with 15.5 ppg, and is also the team leader on the boards with 6.3 rpg. Diallo and Cartwright join Bullock in double figures with 12.8 and 11.2 ppg, respectively

This is the 70th meeting between the Hoyas and the Friars, with Georgetown leading the series, 44-26, and the first matchup this season. The last meeting between the two teams was January 16, 2017, when the Friars defeated the Hoyas, 74-56, in Washington, D.C.

Following Tuesday's game, Georgetown will return to Capital One Arenar on Saturday, February 10, to face BIG EAST rival Seton Hall. The game can be watched live on CBS Sports and heard locally on 99.1 WNEW-FM with Rich Chvotkin handling the call.
