Henry Sims Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's basketball senior Henry Sims (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
The Hoyas improved 18-4 overall and 8-3 in the BIG EAST with a pair of wins last week, beating Connecticut, 58-44, on Wednesday and closing the week out with a 75-45 win over South Florida on Saturday.
Sims averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists during the games last week, leading a balanced effort for the Hoyas, who shot 46.8 percent from the floor as a team, hit 40.0 percent of their three-pointers and 77.8 percent of their free throws.
In Saturday's win over USF, Sims scored a team-high 13 points to lead five players in double figures as Georgetown used a big second half en route to the 30-point win. He hit 7-of-10 shots from the free throw line, grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and handed out five assists.
In the win over UConn, Sims scored 13 points, had four rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Overall this season, Sims is third on the team in scoring (11.9 ppg), second in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and leads the team in assists (3.6 apg) and blocked shots (1.6 bpg). He is shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 73.3 percent from the free throw line and has reached double figures in scoring 15 times. Sims is the only player in the BIG EAST to rank among the top-15 in both assists and blocked shots.
Georgetown, ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches' poll.
The Hoyas return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 8, visiting long-time rival Syracuse. The game will be shown on ESPN at 7 p.m., with Brent Musberger and Bob Knight calling all of the action. Fans locally can hear the radio broadcast of Rich Chvotkin on ESPN 980 AM.
Georgetown's game with Syracuse is part of ESPN's 16th Annual Rivalry Week, which runs from Monday, Feb. 6 to Monday, Feb. 13.
