Jamorko Pickett Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

WASHINGTON - Georgetown freshman guard Jamorko Pickett (Washington, D.C./Massanutten Military Academy [Va.]) was named BIG EAST Freshman on the Week on Monday, as announced by the league. This is Pickett's first weekly award of his career.

The Hoyas went 1-1 last week after defeating Seton Hall last Saturday, 83-80, preceded by a 73-69 loss at Providence Tuesday. Pickett averaged 12.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg in those two outings.

He contributed 18 points and three rebounds against the Pirates and has scored in double figures in four of the last seven games. He recorded a career-high 21 points at Xavier on February 3.

For the season, Pickett is averaging 9.4 ppg and 3.8 rpg in 24 games.

Georgetown heads to Indianapolis to face Butler tomorrow at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The game will be shown live on CBSSN with Andrew Catalon calling the play-by-play and Steve Lappas providing analysis. The game can be heard locally on WNEW 99.1 FM with Rich Chvotkin handling the call.
