WASHINGTON - When the Georgetown University men's basketball team hits the floor on Friday, Feb. 15 for a game at Cincinnati, the Hoyas will wear an alternate away uniform design, the Georgetown Blue Nike Hyper Elite jerseys and shorts as one of a select group of schools to wear commemorative uniforms on a one-time basis this season.
On the jersey, the "G" logo is centered on the chest. The "G" logo is blue and the numbers on the jersey are in gray. The team will also be wearing Jordan Brand Air Jordan's XX8 in black, with Electric Green.
The team is also slated to wear a Hyper Elite warm-up hoody.
According to Nike, the Hyper Elite line offers "lightweight performance through sustainable materials. The short is made of 100% recycled polyester while the jersey is made from at least 96% recycled polyester -- an average of 22 recycled plastic bottles per uniform."
The Hoyas were among a select group of schools to wear the Nike Hyper Elite uniforms this season, including Gonzaga, Michigan State, Baylor, Villanova, Southern California, Ohio State and North Carolina.
Friday's design is one of several one-time uniforms the Hoyas have worn this season. When the team played Florida in the Navy-Marine Corps Classic in Jacksonville on Nov. 9, GU wore camouflage uniforms. Against Texas in the Jimmy V Classic, Georgetown wore road whites.
Georgetown plays at Cincinnati on Friday, Feb. 11 at 9 p.m. The game will be shown live on ESPN, with John Saunders and Bobby Knight calling the action. Fans locally can tune in to the radio call of Rich Chvotkin on ESPN 980 AM.
