WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team will be among a group of four of the top college programs in the country to compete in the 2012 Legends Classic, which culminates with the Championship Rounds at Brooklyn's brand-new Barclay's Center on November 19-20.

The format for the 2012 Legends Classic, which has fast become one of the nation's premier early-season college basketball tournaments, features 12 teams from across the nation competing in the fifth annual event with Georgetown, Indiana, UCLA, and Georgia hosting regional round games from Nov. 11-15.
The four hosts will then advance to the Championship Rounds on Nov. 19-20 at Barclays Center, located in the heart of Brooklyn, N.Y., while the remainder of the field will participate in sub-regionals held at campus sites.
Match-ups for the Championship Rounds, television details, and the entire bracket for the 2012 Legends Classic will be announced at a later date.
The four schools advancing to Barclays Center have combined for 117 trips to the NCAA Tournament.
In the first four years of its existence, the Legends Classic has featured six teams that went on to advance to at least the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Georgetown finished the 2011-12 season with a 24-9 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in eight years under Head Coach John Thompson III. The Hoyas, who were picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST, posted a 12-6 record in league play and were among the top five teams in the league.
The Legends Classic is produced by the Gazelle Group of Princeton, N.J. Scheduled to open in September 2012, Barclays Center will be a major sports and entertainment venue in the heart of Brooklyn, New York.
