Georgetown Athletics Announces Partnership with Monumental Sports

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lee Reed announced today a partnership between the athletics department and Monumental Sports & Entertainment to increase ticket sales for the Hoyas men's basketball program.
"We are very excited to further our relationship with Monumental Sports & Entertainment," Reed said. "Being able to play our home men's basketball games in Verizon Center and having the entire ticket sales staff on our team is tremendous."
Georgetown men's basketball is a primary tenant of Verizon Center and has ranked in or near the top-25 of NCAA men's basketball attendance for the last three seasons. During the 2010-11 season, when Georgetown reached the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in seven years under Head Coach John Thompson III, the Hoyas finished the season ranked No. 25 in the country and fourth in the BIG EAST in average attendance with 12,675 fans per game.
"Georgetown University is in partnership with us as we continue to provide great sporting events at Verizon Center," said Dick Patrick, chief operating officer of Monumental Sports. "The Hoyas are one of the nation's top men's basketball programs and students, local alumni and area basketball fans have taken notice. We are pleased to partner with the Department of Athletics and help to generate ticket sales and create an even better environment for Georgetown games."
Monumental Sports & Entertainment will focus sales efforts on new customers, groups, gameday support and other special offers.
"As we continue to build on our great Georgetown tradition here in the Washington Metropolitan Area, this relationship with Monumental Sports will help to grow our fan base and home-court advantage," Georgetown Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Dan O'Neil said. "MSE will be able to provide some unique sales opportunities to our existing outreach."
