WASHINGTON - This summer, the 2017 Telly Awards gave Georgetown’s 2016 Basketball Starting Lineup Video, produced by Awesome Films, the 2017 Silver Telly Award for non-broadcast production of general sports videos. The video, which played at the beginning of every Georgetown Basketball home game, features video of every individual Georgetown Basketball player and includes colorful effects, dramatic lighting and footage of historic Georgetown Basketball moments.
This year’s Telly for the Georgetown Awesome Films Starting Lineup Video bested notable professional competition, the New York Yankees, who received Bronze in the category. To produce the award-winning 2016 Starting Lineup Video, Georgetown collaborated with creative agency and production company Awesome Films. Based in Pittsburgh, Awesome Films creates television productions, films, new media and commercials aimed to “inspire audiences with lasting impressions,” and receives a Telly Award each year for its best productions.
The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 to celebrate television programming, commercials and non-broadcast video across many screens. The awards are extremely competitive, as publishers, television stations, advertising agencies and production companies at both the collegiate and professional level submit over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and across five continents each year. The prestigious award is an honor not only to Awesome Films but also to the Georgetown Basketball program!
