Featuring 16 home games, at least 16 contests against teams that played in the postseason last year, and a trip the Maui Invitational, the 2011-12 Georgetown University men's basketball schedule was released on Wednesday afternoon. Georgetown finished the 2010-11 season with a 21-11 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven years under Head Coach John Thompson III. The Hoyas, who earned a first round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament with a 10-8 regular season record in league play, played against one of the highest-rated schedules in the nation last year and were among the top-20 teams in the RPI Ratings.
The Hoyas open the season with a pair of home games, first against Savannah State on Saturday, Nov. 12, and then against UNC Greensboro on Monday, Nov. 14.
Georgetown will make its second trip this year to the Pacific when they participate in the Maui Invitational. The Hoyas, who played four exhibition games during an 11-day historic trip to China in August, will open up play in the Maui Invitational against Kansas (35-3, NCAA) on Monday, Nov. 21 (11:50 p.m. ET).
