WASHINGTON - The Georgetown Athletics Department and Monumental Sports & Entertainment announced today the introduction of mobile ticketing, a continuation of the department's effort to make digital ticketing accessible to all men's basketball season ticket holders.
Several new benefits will be made available to all season-ticket holders with the free mobile ticketing option. Fans' MY HOYAS accounts will be optimized for use with any mobile device with an internet connection. With the optimization of the account manager site, customers can easily access their account to send and receive tickets between ticket holders.
Another benefit of this new feature is allowing season ticket holders to enter Verizon Center for a game via their mobile device. Season ticket holders can access their account via their mobile device, provide their barcode for their ticket to the game to the ticket taker, scan the barcode and then enter the arena. Each customer will then receive a seat locator tab for each ticket they scan in via their mobile device.
Group ticket and single-game ticket buyers will also have access to the digital ticketing system and the new mobile ticketing platform.
The launch of the mobile ticketing option is the latest enhancement to the digital ticketing system introduced last season. In a continuation from the 2012-13 seasons, non-student season ticket and partial-plan holders for each team will receive a digital ticketing card to use to manage their seats. There are still no fees associated for customers to use their online account ticket management tools.
"Georgetown is proud to be on the cutting edge of new technologies in the BIG EAST Conference and all of college athletics as well as an industry leader in ticketing," said Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs Dan O'Neil. "Having our Hoya customers use smartphones for entry and being able to manage tickets on mobile devices enhances the Georgetown customer experience. Our ticket and marketing groups strive to provide Hoya fans with the best experience possible while attending games at Verizon Center."
