WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's basketball team held its annual open practice for Hoya Hoop Club members on Saturday morning on campus.

After breakfast at the Leo J. O'Donovan Dining Hall, Head Coach John Thompson III and the Hoyas met with fans and participated in an autograph session.

Following the autograph session, fans were able to participate in a question and answer session with Thompson, who answered questions regarding the team, the BIG EAST Conference, future games with long-time rival Syracuse and the progress of the Intercollegiate Athletics Center. The team then went through a one-hour practice session.

Georgetown was picked to finish in fifth place in the BIG EAST preseason poll, voted on by the league's coaches and announced earlier this week at the annual Media Day, held at the New York Athletic Club.

Sophomore forward Otto Porter (Sikeston, Mo./Scott County Central), one of nine letterwinners and three starters back for the Hoyas this season, was selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team.

Georgetown finished the 2011-12 season with a 24-9 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in eight years under Head Coach John Thompson III. The Hoyas, who were picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST, posted a 12-6 record in league play and were among the top five teams in the league.
