WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team returns back home to Verizon Center on Saturday, Nov. 24, hosting Mount St. Mary's. Tipoff time at Verizon Center is slate for noon.
The game will be shown live on ESPN3, with Dave Leno calling the play-by-play and Corey Alexander serving as the analyst. The radio call of Rich Chvotkin can be heard locally on ESPN 980 AM.
The Hoyas (3-1) are coming off a runner-up finish at the Legends Classic in Brooklyn earlier this week, losing in overtime to No. 1 Indiana, 82-72. Georgetown trailed by seven points, 63-56, with 1;18 remaining in regulation before using an 8-1 run to tie the game on a layup from sophomore forward Otto Porter Jr. (Morley, Mo./Scott County Central) and send it to overtime. The Blue & Gray advanced to the championship game with a 78-70 win over No. 13 UCLA.
Georgetown has players averaging double figures in scoring, led by sophomore guard Markel Starks (Accokeek, Md./Georgetown Prep), who is averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from three-point land. Starks was named to the all-tournament team at the Legends Classic after averaging 21.5 points in two games. He scored a game-high 23 points in the win over UCLA and then scored 20 points against Indiana before fouling out.
Sophomore forward Greg Whittington (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) is second on the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game and leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game. Whittington, who is averaging 2.8 assists per game, grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in the season opener against Duquesne. In two games in Brooklyn, he averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Porter, Jr., a Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team selection and Associated Press honorable mention All-American selection, played only six minutes against Duquesne after getting hit in the head during the first half and missed the Liberty game. In two games in Brooklyn, he averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per game. Overall, he is third on the team in scoring with 11.0 points and third with 5.7 rebounds.

Junior forward Nate Lubick (Southborough, Mass./St. Marks) is fourth on the team in scoring (8.8 ppg), second on the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg), leads the team in assists (4.0 apg) and is second on the team in field goal percentage (52.2%)
Freshman guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./Oak Hill), who scored a game-high 19 points in the season opener against Duquesne, is sixth on the team in scoring with 8.8 points per game and leads the team in field goal percentage, connecting on 55.6 percent of his shots from the floor.
Mount St. Mary's enters the game on Saturday with a 1-2 record, beating Hartford (70-63) and with losses to Pittsburgh and American. Junior guard Rashad Whack leads the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game.
The game with Mount St. Mary's will be the 27th meeting all-time between the schools, with Georgetown leading the head-to-head series, 20-6. This is just the third meeting between the teams since the Mount moved to the NCAA Division I level in 1988-89. Georgetown beat the Mountaineers in 2008 (69-58) and in 2009 (83-62). They Hoyas, who have not lost to Mount St. Mary's at home since 1935, are 17-2 all-time at home against the Mountaineers.
