Smith-Rivera Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll After Puerto Rico Tip-Off

EASTERN UNITED STATES - Georgetown sophomore men's basketball player D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central/Oak Hill) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after his performance during the Puerto Rico Tip-Off this past weekend.
Smith-Rivera scored in double figures in three-straight games as the Hoyas beat Kansas State, 90-63, and No. 10 VCU, 84-80, in the final round to bounce back from an opening round loss to Northeastern.
The wins over Kansas State and VCU improved Georgetown's record to 3-2 overall.
Smith-Rivera was named to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off All-Tournament team after averaging 21.7 points per game during the three games. He connected on 54.3 percent of his field goals (19-of-35), 62.5 percent of his three-pointers (10-of-16) and was 89.5 percent from the free throw line (17-of-19). He also contributed 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game.
Through five games this season, Smith-Rivera leads Georgetown in scoring with 19.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He is shooting 50.9 percent from the floor (29-of-57), 52.0 percent from three-point land (13-of-25) and 898.9 percent from the free throw line (24-of-27).
A BIG EAST All-Rookie selection as a freshman in 2012-13, he has three games with at least 20 points this season (four career) and has scored in double figures 17 times in his career.
Georgetown is back home on Saturday, Nov. 30, hosting Lipscomb at Verizon Center. Tipoff at the Hoyas downtown is slated for noon and the game will be shown live on Fox Sports 1, with Jason Benetti and Gary Williams calling the action.
