WASHINGTON - Georgetown University freshman guard Hollis Thompson (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola), who scored a career-high 16 points in a 97-64 win over Lafayette on Saturday, was named the BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. It is the first conference honor for Thompson.
The Hoyas, winners of their first four games this season, moved up to No. 16 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 14 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll. Georgetown plays on Monday night, Nov. 30, hosting Mount St. Mary's at Verizon Center. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. The game will be shown live on MASN and can be heard locally on ESPN 980 AM.
Thompson connected on all six of his field goal attempts, including all four three-point attempts, to finish with a career-high 16 points in 22 minutes of action.
Through five games, Thompson is averaging 5.5 points per game, which is tied for fifth on the team. He has connected on 60.0 percent of his field goals (9-of-15) and 44.4 percent of his three-point attempts (4-of-9). Thompson is averaging 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
