WASHINGTON - Georgetown junior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) has been selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season, as announced by the league on Monday.
Last week, Georgetown went 2-0 after defeating the University of Maine, 76-55, on Nov. 25 and Coppin State University on Dec. 3, 76-60. In those two games, Govan av-eraged 21.0 ppg and 12.0 rpg while shooting 58.3 percent from the field.
Against the Black Bears, Govan recorded 16 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds in 27 minutes. Against the Eagles, Govan posted a season-high 26 points, while grabbing a career-high 16 boards in 36 minutes. Overall, Govan is aver-aging 19.8 ppg and 12.2 rpg while shooting 62.5 percent from the field in six games this season.
Govan is one of seven players in the country currently averaging at least 15.0 ppg 10.0 rpg while shooting at least 60 percent from the field. Among those seven, Govan ranks second in field goal percentage.
This is Govan’s fourth honor roll selection, as he was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll once before this season on December 26, 2016.
Georgetown returns to competition on Thursday, Dec. 7, when they host Howard Uni-versity at Capital One Arena, with an 8:30 p.m. tipoff.
