WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team hosts North Texas for the first meeting ever this Wednesday night. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is set for 7 p.m. The Hoyas return to action after suffering their first loss of the season this past Saturday against Syracuse.
Wednesday's game will be shown live on FS2 with Bob Picozzi calling the play-by-play and Tarik Turner serving as the color analyst. The game can be heard locally on WJFK 106.7 FM with Rich Chvotkin calling the action.
Against Syracuse, the Hoyas had their largest lead of 13 points (53-40) with 10:58 remaining in the game after Jagan Mosely (Marlboro, N.J./St. Anthony) connected on two free throws. Syracuse tied the game with a minute remaining in regulation and continued to outscore Georgetown 17-10 in overtime to defeat the Hoyas, 86-79, in front of 15,418 fans at Capital One Arena.
Junior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) led the Hoyas with a team-high 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Mosely came off the bench to contribute 20 points, tying a career high, to go along with five boards, three assists and two steals. Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy) added 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
North Texas won its third-consecutive game and improved to 7-5 on the season after an overtime victory at San Diego on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Mean Green is led by Roosevelt Smart who is averaging 18.5 ppg and 3.6 rpg.
Following Wednesday's game, Georgetown will host Alabama A&M on Saturday, Dec. 23, with a noon tipoff at Capital One Arena. It will be the final non-conference game for the Blue & Gray.
