WASHINGTON - Georgetown University junior guard Chris Wright (Bowie, Md./St. John's College H.S.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after his performance in last week's win over Harvard.

The Hoyas, 9-1 overall, open BIG EAST Conference play on Thursday, Dec. 31, hosting long-time rival St. John's at Verizon Center. Tipoff at The Phonebooth is slated for 8 p.m. The game will be shown live on ESPN2, with Lou Canellis and Bill Raftery calling the game. It can be heard locally on AM 570, with Rich Chvotkin providing the play-by-play.

Georgetown is ranked No. 13 in the country in the most recent national polls from the Associated Press and the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll.

Wright led the Hoyas to an 86-70 win over Harvard on Dec. 23 with a career-high 34 points, connecting on 13-of-21 shots from the field, including 6-of-7 from the free throw line. The junior guard scored 21 of his 34 points in the second half and accounted for half of Georgetown's points in a 42-points second half.

Wright added six rebounds, four assists and a career-high six steals in the game.

It was the first time a Georgetown player had scored at least 30 points since Jeff Green scored 30 against Notre Dame on March 9, 2007 during the BIG EAST Tournament. The 34 points were the most scored by a Georgetown player under sixth-year Head Coach John Thompson III.

Through 10 games, Wright is second on the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game. He has connected on 50.0 percent of his field goals (49-of-98) and is seventh in the BIG EAST Conference in free throw percentage, hitting 83.8 percent of his shots from the charity stripe (31-of-37). Wright is also averaging 3.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
