WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's basketball will head out for two BIG EAST contests beginning with a matchup against Marquette this Saturday. Tipoff at BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee is set for 4:30 p.m. ET. The Hoyas, who lost to Butler in double overtime on Wednesday night, now stand at 10-2 overall and 0-1 in the BIG EAST.
Saturday's game will be shown live on FS1 with Jeff Levering calling the play-by-play and Dickey Simpkins serving as the color analyst. The game can be heard locally on WJFK 106.7 FM with Rich Chvotkin handling the call.
In GU's 91-89 double-overtime loss to Butler, Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md,/Brewster Academy [N.H.]) contributed a double-double with a team-best 23 points and 11 rebounds, while also adding three blocks, three steals, two assists in 43 minutes. Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) also had a double-double with 19 points and a game-best 13 rebounds in 43 minutes. Freshman guard Jahvon Blair (Brampton, Ont./Athlete Institute Prep) came off the bench, scoring 17 points while adding three assists and two rebounds in 26 minutes.
Marquette currently stands at 9-4 overall. The Golden Eagles lost their BIG EAST opener Wednesday night, 91-87, to Xavier. They are led by Andrew Rowsey, who is averaging 21.5 ppg and Markus Howard, who averages 21.1 ppg.
Georgetown leads the all-time series vs. Marquette, 12-11. However Marquette leads with a 10-9 record in BIG EAST regular season matchups.
Following Saturday's game, the Hoyas will play at DePaul on January 2 with at 9:00 p.m. ET tipoff.
