Varsity Lightweight Coach


Giuseppe Lanzone comes to coach the Georgetown lightweight freshmen after competing at Olympic Games for the USA. After winning the Olympic qualification regatta, he competed at the 2012 London Olympics finishing 4th in the Men's 8+. He competed in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 World Championships. In 2010 he won the US rowing male athlete of the year. He made his first National team appearance in 2006 and competed at the World Championships finishing in third place in the 8+. He also competed in the 2007 World Championship and completed the Olympic cycle competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Giuseppe is a 7 time national team member. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2005. At Washington Giuseppe was a member varsity 8+ for 3 years, winning the Royal Henley regatta in 2003 and the PAC 12 titles in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In 2004 and 2005, he was named to the All PAC 12 team. As a freshman in 2002 he went undefeated in the heavyweight freshmen 8+ and ultimately won the national championship defeating Michigan and the rest of the field at the IRA Championships. Giuseppe began his rowing career his junior year on the Potomac rowing for Mclean High School where he won numerous races and obtained the title of top junior rower at the CRASHB championship in Boston. Giuseppe brings a mix of ideas when it comes to coaching having been influenced by world renowned coaches Mike Teti, Kris Korzeniowski and Tim McLaren during his time with the US National Team.
