Varsity Lightweight Coach

Varsity Lightweight Coach Sam Stitt is in his first year of coaching the Hoyas at Georgetown University. Sam is a seven-time National Team Rower and placed 5th in the Quadruple Sculls at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A 2004 graduate of Rutgers University, Sam rowed in their Varsity Heavyweight Eight. He competed with Rutgers at the Henley Royal Regatta on Thames in 2003. This was the first time Rutgers had entered a Heavyweight Crew in at Henley and Sam and his teammates placed 2nd in the Ladies Plate. Also during his junior year, his boat made the grand finals of the Eastern Sprints, which was the first time Rutgers had made the final in 22 years. Sam started rowing during his sophomore year at McLean High School. Now that he's home from training for the 2012 London Olympics, Sam is excited to be back on the Potomac where he has been training and coaching since 1996. Complemented by an excellent coaching staff at Georgetown, he hopes to have an outstanding year and help the Lightweight Program achieve new levels of performance.
