Heavyweight Assistant Coach


Zach Vlahos joined the Georgetown men's rowing coaching staff in August, 2016 and will serve as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the heavyweight crews.

Prior to Georgetown, Vlahos competed for the U.S. national team as a coxswain in the in the eight boat. He was a member of the U.S. squad that placed fourth at the 2012 Olympic Games in London after winning the 2012 Final Olympic Qualification Regatta.

In other international events, Vlahos has raced in five World Rowing Championships. He finished seventh in 2015 after earning a bronze medal in 2013 and also placed second at the 2010 World Rowing U-23 Championships while placing fourth and fifth at the 2005 and 2006 World Rowing Junior Championships, respectively. Vlahos also coxed the U.S. to gold medal finishes at the 2013 and 2014 World Rowing Cup as well as winning the Temple Challenge Cup at the 2007 Henley Royal Regatta.

On the national level, Vlahos won gold in the eight at the 2013 USRowing National Championships and in the four at the 2005 USRowing Youth National Championships.

Prior to his career with the U.S. national team, Vlahos was a coxswain at the University of California from 2007-10, rowing under Agnini who was an assistant coach for the Bears. In 2010 as a senior, Vlahos was among 29 collegiate rowers selected by USRowing to its 2010 Men's U-23 National Team Selection Camp after coxing Cal's national champion varsity 8+ at the IRA Regatta. He also coxed the Bears to a second-place finish at the Pac-10 Championships in the varsity 8+. As a junior, he coxed the varsity 8+ that won the Pac-10 title and placed second in the IRA Regatta. He also placed second at the IRA Regatta in the second varsity 8+ as a sophomore in 2008 after winning freshman 8+ at the IRA Regatta and Pac-10 Championships in 2007.
