Georgetown Heavyweight Crew Finish Fall Strong at Princeton Chase

Nov. 1, 2010

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Georgetown University men's heavyweight crew raced to an impressive result at the Princeton Chase, finishing eighth out of 38 entries on Lake Carnegie for the Hoyas last race of the fall season. The heavyweight varsity crew, featuring sophomores Matthew Stewart, Henry Hoffstot, Sam Viola, Michael Hennessy, Benjamin Holtzmuller, Timothy Broughton, Charles de Pentheny-O'Kelly, Michael Blommer and junior coxswain Carly Heitlinger, finished in eighth against 38 competitors; an improvement of 14 places from last year's 22nd place result.

"The varsity eight reported they had a solid row today", noted Tony Johnson, "We'll refocus efforts to log some miles in the small boats now that the fall racing has wrapped up for the varsity".

The Princeton Chase signals the end of the Georgetown varsity's heavyweight fall racing season. Next weekend, the freshman heavyweight and lightweight men's crews will travel to New Brunswick, New Jersey for the Rutgers Fall Classic, a freshman-only race.
