WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's crew team has sent their heavyweight varsity eight, lightweight varsity eight and heavyweight varsity four to the 111th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif.
This year marks the first time the IRA National Championship Regatta has returned to California since its inaugural hosting job in 2009.
Racing will begin on Friday, May 31 with the men's varsity eight heats and will continue until finals are complete on Sunday, June 2. Georgetown is scheduled to race at 8:15 a.m. on Friday in the heavyweight varsity eight heats against Harvard, Princeton, Navy, Oregon State and University of California, San Diego.
Georgetown's heavyweight varsity four is scheduled to race at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31 in the heavyweight varsity four heats against California, Brown, George Washington, Oregon State and Wisconsin.
Heats for the lightweight eight event will take place on Sunday, June 2 at 8:00 a.m., with the final scheduled for later in the day. Georgetown will race against Harvard, Colombia and Princeton in the lightweight varsity eight heat.
