Georgetown Crew Wins Two Races at Reading Regatta Saturday

READING, ENGLAND - The Georgetown University men's crew raced in the Reading Town Regatta at Thames Valley Park on Saturday morning, winning both of its races in the Senior 4+ and the Intermediate 4+.

Reading Town Regatta is raced over a distance of 800 meters and is a tune-up race for the Henley Royal Regatta that begins next week.

The Georgetown 4+ of Stroke Charlie de Pentheny-O'Kelly, Henry Hoffstot, Mike Hennessy, Timothy Broughton and coxswain Carly Heitlinger raced in the Senior 4+ and in the Intermediate 4+ event. Building upon their success at Marlow Regatta last weekend, they posted strong results winning both events. In the Senior 4+ Georgetown defeated Yale in the final by 1 and 1/4 lengths. In the Intermediate 4+ they defeated Grand Valley State by 2 lengths to win again.

Georgetown will continue it's preparation for Henley which begins next Wednesday June 30th. Georgetown is one of 16 crews that will compete in the Prince Albert Cup for student fours with coxswain. They have drawn Lady Margaret's Boat Club (St. John's University, Cambridge) in the first round.
