Georgetown football hosted Colgate on Saturday, October 26 during family weekend.
Recruits: Southern Ohio, Colorado, Northern Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri. Brian Miller has coached the offensive lineman as part of the Georgetown football coaching staff since March 2012.
During his time on the Hilltop, Miller has coached James Spaly, a 2012 All-Patriot League Second Team lineman and Don Rhodes, a member of the 2012 PL All-Academic Team.
For two seasons (2010-2011), Miller served as an assistant offensive line coach at the University of Kansas, where he helped the Jayhawks engineer the greatest comeback in Kansas football history, making up 35 points in the fourth quarter. Miller also coached two All-BIG 12 offensive linemen, Jeremiah Hatch and Duane Zlatnik during his year in Lawrence, Kan.
Prior to Kansas, Miller spent eight seasons from 2002-2009 last serving as the offensive coordinator at Division II Washburn University in Topeka, Kan. At Washburn, Miller helped produce four of the top offensive season's in school history, setting 20 team offensive school records, guiding 28 student-athletes in setting 28 individual offensive school records. In 2009, the Ichabods' offense, under Miller's guidance, averaged over 40 points per game, the fourth highest mark in the nation.
Miller coached two All Americans, six All-Region and 47 All-Conference selections, including current Carolina Panthers' Offensive Lineman Brian Folkerts. In addition to Folkerts, he also recruited and signed Cary Williams and Michael Wilhoite, Joe Hastings and Trey Lewis who have all played in the NFL.
With the Ichabods, Miller also served as offensive line coach, where his line blocked for the program's all-time leading rusher and all-time leading passer. Miller also served as the team's academic coordinator, producing two Academic All-Americans, five Academic All-Region, and 74 Academic All-Conference winners.
Before Washburn, Miller coached at University of Minnesota, Crookston for five seasons (1997-2002), where he last served as Associate Head Coach. Miller had also worked as the offensive coordinator, where he worked with offenses that set 17 team and individual records. He also worked as the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach, guiding two All-Conference quarterbacks and two All-Conference wide receivers. In Crookston, Miller also spent two seasons as an assistant baseball coach, while serving on the faculty as the program manager and assistant professor for the Sport & Recreation Management Degree Program, a program he developed from its inception. Miller spent two years at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., where he served as the Special Teams Coordinator, coaching units that led the league in punt blocks and punt return yards. He also coached running backs and defensive linemen at Northern State.
He began his coaching career, at St. Cloud State University as the running backs coach in 1994-1995.
Miller, a native of Golden, Colo., was a four-year letterwinner at Hastings College in Nebraska from 1985-1988, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a minor in communications in 1989. He earned his Masters of Science in Athletic Administration at St. Cloud State University in 1996.
He and his wife Michelle reside in Burke, Va. and have three children, sons Matt and Alex and daughter Bailey.
