WASHINGTON - Hoyas Unlimited and the Gridiron Club challenged its supporters on November 12, 2011 and in just six weeks time, their goal has been achieved in the 25K New Donor Challenge to support Georgetown University football.
In recognition of an outstanding season, a generous friend and former parent of the team challenged the Georgetown football community with a $25,000 New Donor Challenge gift. Starting on Nov. 12, all new gifts up to $500 from donors who did not make a contribution in 2011 were matched one-to-one. A gift of $50 or $500, made double the impact.
Over 100 new donors made a contribution and the $25,000 goal was exceeded. The final results are still being tallied as gifts made in late December are still being processed.
"I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude," said Director of Hoyas Unlimited Kim Insalaco. "Over 100 new donors to the Gridiron Club and Georgetown football combined for well over the $25K goal. Your generosity strengthens the program's tradition and sustains our legacy and commitment to excellence. You have made a wonderful investment in the lives of our student-athletes. Your contributions help ensure that Georgetown football will continue to provide the best academic experiences coupled with the opportunity to compete at a high level of Division I athletics."
Please note that the challenge was set up to encourage new donations. There are many generous donors to the program whose names were not listed because they had already made a gift in the 2011 calendar year. Hoyas Unlimited and the Gridiron Club are thankful for all of its generous supporters.
