Hoya Notes: From the Desk of Football Head Coach Kevin Kelly

Feb. 4, 2011

From the Desk of Head Coach Kevin Kelly

Dear family, friends and fans,

It has been over two months since our last game and just under two months until spring ball starts, but myself, our coaching staff and student-athletes have been working hard in a variety of areas.

Finishing up on the Recruiting Trail: Our recruiting class is terrific! We have fulfilled all of our need areas and they will complement our returning players very well. We will not be able to officially announce our class until May (per University admissions policy and NCAA rules). The reason behind this rule is that prospects need official acceptance and have their deposit in before we can officially release names.

The 2011 Schedule: As I write this note, we are working on the finishing touches for our 2011 season schedule, which we will be releasing in the next couple of weeks.

Spring Ball Dates: Our first spring practice will be Tuesday, March 22 and finish with our spring game on April 16 at 3 p.m. at Multi-Sport Field. All practices and the Spring Game are open to the public. Remaining dates and times will be posted online at the beginning of March. We welcome all of your support as we prepare for the 2011 season.

Winter Strength & Conditioning: Currently, our players are working out extremely hard, four days per week, with Strength & Conditioning Coach Carl Johnson. We will culminate our winter program with the Superstar Olympics on Thursday, March 3.

Save The Date: We will be holding our Team Banquet on Saturday, April 16 at Noon. Following the Team Banquet we will hold our Spring Game at 3 p.m.

Coaches: Right now, we are evaluating and analyzing last year's video. During this time we will all be taking professional trips to other college staffs for new ideas to supplement our offense, defense and special teams.   Thank you for your continued support of Georgetown football!
