WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football program has announced its 11-game 2015 schedule, the second season under Head Coach Rob Sgarlata. The Hoyas will play five games at Multi-Sport Field with their home-opener coming under the lights at Multi-Sport Field against Marist at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.
The 2015 season will be the 15th season of Patriot League play for the Hoyas, as they host Lafayette (Oct. 10), Colgate (Oct. 17) and defending PL Champion Fordham (Nov. 14) to Multi-Sport Field during the season.
"Overall I think it is a very strong schedule and we are extremely excited for 2015," Sgarlata said. "We expect the Patriot League to present us with a very challenging schedule. Everyone in the league will be chasing Fordham, and we will be no different. I am also excited to play our non-conference schedule. We will play three Ivy league opponents for the first time and expect tough tests with St. Francis and Marist to open the season."
The Blue & Gray will welcome three new teams to the schedule in 2015, including season-opening opponent St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday, September 5 with the opening kickoff scheduled for noon. The Hoyas meeting with the Red Flash will be their first since 2004 and the first trip to Loretto, Pa. since 1987. Ivy League opponents Dartmouth and Columbia will be new on the schedule for 2015.
Following the home-opener with the Red Foxes, Georgetown takes on three consecutive Ivy League opponents to round out its non-conference schedule. GU hosts Dartmouth (Sept. 19, noon) in the first meeting between the programs since 1916.
GU will travel to New York City to meet with Columbia (Sept. 26, noon) for the first time since 2006 and then to Boston, Mass. to take on Harvard (Oct. 3) for the second consecutive season.
The Hoyas 15th season of Patriot League play begins when Lafayette (Oct. 10, 2 p.m.) arrives for Homecoming on the Hilltop. GU will host Colgate (Oct. 17, noon) the following weekend for Community Day and Parents Weekend.
Georgetown makes back-to-back trips to Pennsylvania, traveling to Lewisburg to meet Bucknell (Oct. 24) and to Bethlehem looking for its first win against Lehigh (Oct. 31) since joining the PL.
After a bye week, the Hoyas host the defending Patriot League Champion Fordham Rams (Nov. 14, noon) on Senior Day, before concluding the regular season in Worcester, Mass. against Holy Cross.
