Georgetown Football Announces 2012 Schedule

Georgetown opens its season on September 1, when they travel to Davidson.

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team has announced its 11-game schedule for the 2012 that will kick-off when the Hoyas travel to Davidson on Saturday, September 1 to play the Wildcats. The Hoyas schedule features six home games at Multi-Sport Field, its most home dates since 2005.

"Our guys are very hungry, so motivation will not be a problem heading into the 2012 season," Head Coach Kevin Kellysaid. "Last year we got a taste of winning, getting so close to our ultimate goal, this year our motto is finish the job, and our guys have done a great job of living up to that."

Georgetown opens its 2012 home schedule when they host Northeastern Conference foe, Wagner for the third consecutive season. The Hoyas and Seahawks have split their matchups in the past two seasons, with GU coming out on top, 24-10 last season. The opening kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Blue & Gray enter its 12th season in the Patriot League, coming off its most successful season in the league. GU made it to the Patriot League Championship Game, falling to Lehigh last season to finish 8-3 overall and 3-2 in the PL. The Hoyas will open league play this season on Saturday, October 6 when they travel to Bronx, N.Y. to play Fordham at 1 p.m. They return to Multi-Sport Field the following week, when they play a rematch of the Patriot League Championship game against Lehigh at 1 p.m. on October 13.

The Hoyas travel for the next two weeks when they go to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate on October 20 and then to Easton, Pa. to take on Lafayette on October 27 at 6 p.m. After a bye week, the Blue & Gray close the regular season at home, hosting Bucknell on November 10 at 1 p.m. and Holy Cross on Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.

In addition to its Patriot League schedule, Georgetown will also play three consecutive games against Ivy League opponents earlier in the season. After travelling to Yale the past two seasons, Georgetown will host the Bulldogs on Saturday, September 15 at 1 p.m. The Hoyas travel to Princeton the following weekend to take on the Tigers at September 22. Georgetown will host Brown on September 29 at 2 p.m. for Homecoming Weekend on the Hilltop.
