WASHINGTON - Georgetown University football's rising-senior cornerback Jeremy Moore (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) has been selected to the College Football Performance Awards 2012 FCS Defensive Backs Watch List. Moore joins three other Patriot League (PL) defensive backs, as student-athletes for the watch list were announced on Monday morning.
Moore is the second Hoya named to the watch list this summer, joining Robert McCabe, who was selected to the linebacker watch list last week.
Moore was a PL First Team selection as a cornerback and kick-off returner during the 2011 season. His four interceptions placed him among the leaders in the Patriot League and FCS, while his 178 interception return yards was among the tops in the league and second in GU single-season history. Moore returned an interception for a 75-yard touchdown against Fordham (Nov. 5).
In 2011, Moore finished fifth on the team with 58 tackles, while proving to be a disruptive force as a pass rusher, making 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. Moore was also a difference-maker in the return game, leading the league with a 29.2 yards per kick-off return, the best single-season average in Georgetown history. Moore was also a PL Second Team selection following the 2010 season.
Moore will be the lone senior returning to a Georgetown defensive backfield that loses three starters, after being among the tops in the Patriot League in interceptions and passes defended during the past two seasons.
The Hoyas open the 2012 season at Davidson on Saturday, September 1. GU will play six home games at Multi-Sport Field in 2012, after finishing with an undefeated 4-0 home record in 2011.
