WASHINGTON - Senior cornerback Jeremy Moore (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) has been named to the College Sporting News (CSN) FCS 2012 Preseason All-America third team as a cornerback, when teams were announced on Monday afternoon.
The preseason has been full of accolades for Moore, who has already been named to The Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America third team in early July, before earning preseason All-Patriot League honors as a cornerback and a return-specialist last week at Patriot League Football Media Day.
Following the 2011 season, Moore earned Patriot League First Team honors as a cornerback and kick returner. On defense, he finished with four interceptions for 178 return yards, including a 75-yard touchdown return in a win against Fordham on November 5. Moore was fifth on the squad with 58 tackles, while proving to be a disruptive force in opponents' backfields, registering 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.
Moore enters his final season as an accomplished kick-off returner, averaging 29.2 yards per return last season, the highest average in program history. Moore is the program's career kick-off return average leader (24.7). Moore averaged 95.4 all-purpose yards per game last season in eight games, adding 178 yards of interception return yardage to his 584 kickoff return yards.
Moore joins fellow Patriot League student-athletes wide receiver Ryan Spadola (Lehigh) and punter Patrick Murray (Fordham), who were each named to the second team.
