WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University senior captain Dan Matheny (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) will be among a group of Hoya football players who will be sharing their thoughts as the team goes through the first four weeks of practice, in preparation for the team's season opener on Sept. 5 at Holy Cross. The Blue & Gray finished their first week of practice on Sunday and Matheny provides this week's update.
"A week has passed and every day brings us closer to the Holy Cross opener. It has been hot in so far, but the team is handling everything well. We have an intensity and work ethic that is very different this year. There is an excitement that is tangible. We absolutely cannot wait to play. It cannot come soon enough.
"The team is gelling well too. We have been living all together in dorms for the first eight days. It has been a great time to bond and unwind after long days of meetings and practice.
"The season cannot some soon enough. We have felt great about this team for a long time. It is time to put our confidence together with our work ethic and practice. September 5 is only three weeks away and we will be ready. Go Hoyas!"
