WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team will hold its first situational scrimmage on Saturday morning beginning at approximately 10 a.m. at the Multi-Sport Field on campus at Georgetown University. The scrimmage is free and open to the public, with parking available in the Southwest Garage.
The scrimmage comes at the conclusion of the Hoyas' second week of summer training camp and first week of two-a-days.
The scrimmage begins with a look at the Hoyas special teams units, as the kick-off and punt teams will start the morning. The first team offense and defense will take the field for 10 plays before the second team offense and defense get 10 plays, before repeating that format once more. Georgetown's third team offense and defense will then get 10 repetitions.
Georgetown will follow by working on their two minute offense. The first team offense will run the two minute drill against the first team defense before the second team offense works against the second team defense.
The Hoyas will conclude its scrimmage by moving into its Red Zone offense and defense, as points will be awarded over five series'. Points will be awarded to the offense for touchdowns (six points), extra points (1), extra point run or pass (2) and field goals (3). The defense will earn points for blocked or missed field goals (1) and fourth down stop, blocked field goals or turnovers (7).
Georgetown opens its season with three consecutive road games, beginning on Saturday, September 4 at Davidson. The Hoyas open the home portion of its schedule against Holy Cross on Saturday September 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available by visiting www.GUHoyas.com or by calling (202) 687-HOYA.
