WASHINGTON - Sophomore running back Nick Campanella (Roselle, Ill./Montini Catholic) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and senior linebacker Robert McCabe (Newtown Square, Pa./Malvern Prep) was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after the Georgetown University football team (1-0) defeated Davidson, 35-14 in the season-opener on Saturday night.

Campanella, an All-Patriot League Second Team selection last season, scored a career-high four touchdowns, including a career-long 53 yard run and a 45 yard run in the fourth quarter. He also caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Aiken. Overall, Campanella rushed for a career-high 127 yards on 12 carries and had one reception for nine yards. The weekly honor is the first for Campanella during his career.

McCabe, the preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, started his season in strong fashion making a career-high 17 tackles and three tackles for loss in a dominant defensive performance for the Hoyas. The Hoyas held Davidson to negative 18 yards on the ground and allowed just one drive over 25 yards to an offense that was eighth in the nation in passing offense a season ago. For McCabe it is the third weekly honor he has received from the Patriot League and second Defensive Player of the Week selection.

The Hoyas return home to Multi-Sport Field to host Wagner (0-1) for its home-opener on Saturday, September 8 at 1 p.m. Tickets are available for the Hoyas game with Wagner and the rest of the 2012 Georgetown Football home games.
