Sept. 5, 2011

WASHINGTON - Junior linebacker Jeremy Grasso (Washington, Twp., N.J./Bergen Catholic) was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and freshman wide receiver Kevin Macari (Stamford, Conn./New Canaan) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week when the conference announced its weekly awards on Monday. The weekly honors come two days after the Hoyas opened its season with a 40-16 victory over Davidson.

Grasso totaled eight tackles and led the nation during the opening week in both sacks (3.5) and tackles for loss (4.5), while helping the Hoyas defense limit the Wildcats to negative seven rushing yards. Grasso also recovered a fumble in the victory.

Grasso was making his first start at middle linebacker after starting at outside linebacker during his sophomore season on the Hilltop. The honor was Grasso's first Defensive Player of the Week Award.

Macari, making his collegiate debut, had two receptions for a team-leading 51 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown reception in the Hoyas victory. Macari's touchdown reception got the Hoyas offense to the 40 point mark, a number the Hoyas had not reached since October 13, 2003.

The Hoyas are back in action when they host Patriot League rival Lafayette College on Saturday, September 10 at 6 p.m. under the lights at Multi-Sport Field. Tickets for any of Georgetown's four home games can be purchased by calling the Hoyas box office at (202) 687-HOYA (4692) or visiting the team's official website - GUHoyas.com - and visiting http://www.guhoyas.com/tickets/m-footbl-tickets.html. Season tickets are still available for Georgetown football. The adult season ticket price is $30 and youth, senior and military season tickets are $15.
