WASHINGTON - Sophomore punter Harry McCollum (Arlington Heights, Ill./Saint Viator) was named a College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Punter Performer of the Week honorable mention after averaging 45.6 yards per punt at Dayton on Saturday.
McCollum, playing in his second collegiate game, had five punts for 228 yards, including a long of 60 yards. Two of his punts landed inside the 20 yard line, with one bouncing out of bounds at the Dayton three yard line, to help GU in the field position battle.
"The ball was coming off of my foot really well," McCollum said. "I had been waiting for a game like that since I got to Georgetown. Coach Sgarlata and Coach Doherty really helped the punt team prepare for the Dayton game and we executed. Robert Longwell converted on all of his snaps and the coverage team was solid. The bomb squad truly had a good day."
It was the first weekly honor for McCollum and the first for a Georgetown specialist since Matt MacZura was named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week on September 21, 2012.
