WASHINGTON - Junior defensive end Andrew Schaetzke (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) was named The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Defensive Player of the Week when weekly honors were announced late Monday afternoon.

Schaetzke, who was also named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, played a key role in the Hoyas 28-24 victory against Lafayette College on Saturday. Schaetzke finished the game with eight tackles, including 2.0 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss, resulting in 23 yards.

In the fourth quarter against the Leopards, Schaetzke had a sack and forced a fumble deep in Georgetown's own territory to halt a scoring drive. He also had a sack during Lafayette's final possession to help the Hoyas seal their second consecutive victory to start the season.

Schaetzke has recorded a sack in four of his last six games, including both games this season. He currently leads the Patriot League with three sacks in two games and is second with 5.0 tackles for loss.
