Last Time Out
Georgetown won its second-straight season opener, defeating Campbell University, 16-10, on the road last weekend. Jelani Williamson (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) returned a fumble recovery 32 yards for the game-winning score with 1:27 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Williamson recovered two fumbles in the victory and added one of GU's seven sacks. GU in Home Openers
The Hoyas are 7-10 in home openers since 2000, but 6-1 since 2010 and have won their last three under Head Coach Rob Sgarlata. Last season, the Blue & Gray defeated Davidson, 38-14, and topped Marist, 34-7, in 2015.

About the Matchup
Saturday will be the 20th meeting between the Hoyas and Red Foxes, with Georgetown leading the all-time series, 15-4. The Blue & Gray, which is 9-1 in matchups on the Hilltop, has won the last three meetings overall, including a 20-17 victory in Poughkeepsie last season. Barnes passed for 208 yards and the game-winning touchdown pass to Justin Harrell (New Orleans, La./Newman) in the fourth quarter. Hunter Kiselick (C'17) blocked two field goals to help seal the win.

The Hoyas are no stranger to the Pioneer Football League (PFL), having gone 13-3, including last week's victory over Campbell, against opponents from the PFL over the past 10 years. Georgetown is 5-1 against the PFL under Sgarlata and has won the last four meetings.

Scouting Marist
The Red Foxes, who were selected to finish third in the PFL preseason poll, come to Cooper Field with a 1-1 record in 2017. They defeated Stetson, 38-17, last weekend after opening the year with a 45-6 setback to Patriot League foe Bucknell. Junior quarterback Mike White leads the offense, earning PFL Offensive Player of the Week honors after passing for 337 yards and a touchdown against Stetson while also rushing for two more scores. Juston Christian has hauled in 15 catches for 205 yards, including 143 receiving yards against Stetson. Marist's defense has forced four turnovers, including three interceptions, over its first two games.

Looking Ahead
The Hoyas will head back out on the road, playing at Columbia University, the first of three-consecutive games against Ivy League opponents, on Saturday, September 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. It will be the third-annual battle for the Lou Little Trophy, named after the College Football Hall of Fame Head Coach who coached at both Georgetown and Columbia.
