Alec May Named Patriot League Weekly Honorable Mention

Alec May leads the FCS with 8.5 sacks.

WASHINGTON - Senior defensive end Alec May (Wrenthem, Mass./King Phillip) was named a Patriot League Weekly honorable mention when the league announced its award winners on Monday afternoon. May earns his fifth career PL weekly honor.

May led the Georgetown University football team (2-2, 0-0 Patriot League) with nine tackles and a career-high four sacks and four tackles for loss of 30 yards, as the Hoya defense has extended its streak to nine quarters without allowing a touchdown.

May currently leads the Patriot League and Division I FCS with 8.5 sacks, averaging over two sacks per game. Since the end of the 2013 season, May has been one of the most dominant defensive lineman in the country with 15.5 sacks over his last seven games. His 17 career sacks is eighth in GU program history.

Saturday's victory was Georgetown's first against Brown and just its third over an Ivy League opponent. It was the Blue & Gray's first home victory over an Ivy League opponent.

May and the Hoyas will open Patriot League play on Saturday, September 27 when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to take on Colgate University (1-2, 0-0 Patriot League).
