WASHINGTON - Senior quarterback Scott Darby (Tewksbury, Mass./St. John's Prep) was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Georgetown University football team (3-1, 1-0 Patriot League) to a 52-28 win over Marist on Saturday. The award is the third weekly distinction for Darby in his career, having twice been honored in 2010. Senior defensive end Andrew Schaetzke (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) also earned honorable mention for his performance against Marist.
On Saturday, Darby completed 18-of-22 passes for 211 yards and four touchdowns. His 81.8 completion percentage is the best single-game total in Georgetown football history. Darby also carried the ball eight times for 50 yards and a 13 yard touchdown rush. Darby accounted for five touchdowns in a Hoyas offensive explosion that saw them score 52 points, the most by a Georgetown team since they scored 54 against St. Peter's on October 31, 1998.
Darby was previously named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on September 13, 2010 following a Hoyas victory over Lafayette and again on September 27, 2010 following a win over Holy Cross.
Schaetzke recorded nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in a dominating performance against the Red Foxes. Schaetzke now has 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks through four games this season.
